Video Games = Violence

Oh my, here comes the Malaysian “Jack Thompson”. Yes, you’ve read it correctly. If you don’t know who Jack Thompson is, where have you been? To tell you the truth, I was quite enraged by the reports of today’s Berita Harian. President of Psychiatric, Prof Dr Mohamad Hussain Habil said that the real reason behind the increasing cases of bully and juvenile murder was because of video games. He stated that the video games nowadays have realistic murder scene which will lead them to the real thing.

“The player (kids) felt victorious when he accomplishes the mission by killing a lot of people (in the game), and not only that, he will feel proud seeing the blood and the kills that he made. Subsequently, the player will transform the scenario into reality.”

By the description of the gameplay, I think he’s talking about Grand Theft Auto or possibly Hitman. But still, that’s no reason to blame videogames entirely. We’ll wait for a few days to see how the community response to the news feed.
